                        Vernacular Wooden Structure series

For the exhibition A Decade of the Mark Tanner Sculpture Award' a wooden sculpture was produced by using three steps and newel post from an old staircase as a former. A scaffold like structure built around the former.
The former is taken away to leave the wooden structure.

Wooden Structure (and other materials) Series 

The initial inspiration was vernacular architecture. In particular a water collecting system I saw on a farm whilst holidaying in Jamaica. My task has been to create a series of systems that seem to work as corridors/gutters, collecting things and or transporting us to other spaces.Their original function is questionable like a relic or an obsolete building.

Popcornaut & Thinking Flowers? Installation

I have just completed a commission for Thinking Flowers? To produce point of sale display units that will be used to display The ‘Mother Earth’ ranges of hand-tied gift bouquets for Mothering Sunday 3^rd April.
The work was both furniture and sculpture as contentious as that may be, but very much material form lead. The works went through many permutations before they settled into their current form and where able to show of the beautiful bouquets.

The display units can be seen and bouquets bought at Budgens, 199-205 Haverstock Hill, Belsize Park London NW3 4QG and Budgens 21-23 The Broadway Crouch End London N8 8DU.

Jones often explains how strange it was that as a child he was often told

to stop gazing into space or out the window, those ‘grounded’ voices soughtto drag him back to the real world. The action of looking intently at things

is usually dismissed as fanciful daydreaming; he still stares into space butnow documents what he sees.

For this exhibition Jones proposes to document the space and produce afilm using sophisticated software in a slightly unorthodox manner. This film

will be projected back into the space to create, as he says ‘a displaced fractureof the real’.

Jones’ work stems from questions of memory and imagination. Though theviewer may find a myriad of materials and media being used his goal is to

balance the believable, observable world with the unbelievable, the unseen,the unhelmlich.

Hallway projects are a series of proposals responding to the uniquecharacter of the old Deptford Library.
